Volunteer Positions
Since we're still a new rescue group, there are lots of ways to help and we definitely need the help right now. Read through the descriptions to see if there are any positions that interest you. We're currently looking for people to join in all areas. If you're interested please go to Become A Volunteer.

Administrative: assisting with clerical work and calls. Some of the calls we'd be asking you to do would be calling past adopters and seeing how things are going, calling people back who have submitted forms and answering their questions, and other similar customer service work.
We're also looking for people to help with writing care guides about certain animals, answering questions if you're an expert in a certain species or topic, assembling mailing pieces, or even biographies of the animals on occasion.
Event Support: representing Kingston Animal Rescue at public events. Some of these events may be Booths at festivals, Adopt-A-Thons, Fundraisers, Education events, and more. You’d be trained in how to answer questions about our organization and how to ask for donations or participants in our foster program. Ideally you'd be passionate for our cause and willing to be outgoing for our purposes.
Fundraising: helping us raise funds for the animals. This can constitute anything between helping out at events to hosting your own fundraiser. You may also be interested in going around to businesses and asking or suggesting different ways they may be able to help us. Posting flyers around or helping us get the media involved are also great ways to help.
Driver: transporting animals and supplies to a veterinarian or foster home. The carrier would be all set for you, all you would need to do is the driving part. If you head to Ottawa or especially Toronto on a regular basis we’d love to have you let us know that you want to help. The best rabbit vets are in Toronto and it's a a regular thing for us to go back and forth, any help we can get here would be a blessing.
Building Team: helping build and improve cages, pens, and habitats for the animals. If you're creative and/or good working with tools here is where we need you. Building and improving the cages takes a creative mind and not always muscle as we often use the grid panels and assemble them ourselves that way. Someone good with tools would have a different take on it and would be an asset to the Team in making the best homes ever.
Baking and Crafting Team: put your skills to use by helping us make baked goods and our homemade merchandise to sell at our booths. We have tons of great ideas but not a lot of time. This is great for just doing in your own home in your spare time. We are looking for bakers to make yummy things for our booths, your specialty! We are looking for crafty people to help us make catnip toys, dog/cat/rabbit treats, wooden chew toys, rattles, and other such things. If you are looking for a project that will make you feel warm and fuzzy this is it!
Foster Home: providing a home for a rescued animal until adopted. Fostering is the backbone of the organization and it will not succeed without people able to foster the animals we hope to take in. It can be very rewarding but also time consuming and definitely is a learning experience as you get to know many different animals and their different habits.
