Why We're Needed
There is a great need for a no-kill animal rescue in the region. With pet overpopulation at a staggering level, regional shelters are overwhelmed and often the “less” adoptable animals are at great risk.
As hard as they try, shelters cannot always take care of all of the animals that come through their doors. These special animals are often incredibly sweet and just need a bit of extra time that the shelters simply cannot afford.
Rabbits are of particular interest and concern for us. They are very common pets, more common than most people think. In fact, after dogs and cats they are one of the most popular pets. Unfortunately, this means lots of them end up abandoned at local animals shelters. Other small animals, like hamsters, rats and gerbils, also end up in shelters looking for loving forever homes. These animals often wait for a very long time before being adopted, if they are adopted at all.
Kingston Animal Rescue takes in these last-chance animals and provides:
- Proper veterinary care and nutrition
- Spay or neuter for all rabbits, cats and dogs
- A loving foster home where they thrive when not in the stressful shelter environment
By taking in these animals and helping shelters with their overload, we're drastically reducing the number of rabbits and other little creatures that are euthanized. We're also significantly increasing the number of happy, healthy pets being adopted. It’s a win-win for everyone!
