Fluffy's Fund
Fluffy was the first "special needs bunny" that Kingston Animal Rescue took on so we decided to name this important fund after him. At Kingston Animal Rescue we feel that every animal deserves a chance at a wonderful life and hopefully with the money raised through Fluffy's Fund many more animals can receive the treatment they need.
Fluffy's Story
Sweet Fluffy is a wonderful bunny who was surrendered to us along with four other bunnies. Kingston Animal Rescue took this little family in and affectionately named them the Fabulous Five.
When Fluffy came to us he was a sick little bunny. Although his previous family had taken him to see a vet, a proper diagnosis was never made. Fluffy had a severe respiratory infection, was malnourished and had a mixture of bald patches and badly matted fur.
Within his first week with us we took Fluffy to see a new vet and tests were performed to determined what kind of respiratory infection he had. It took many weeks and two different kinds of medication to finally dry up his runny nose and clear his chest. It is wonderful to finally see Fluffy feeling better and not constantly sneezing.
Fluffy's fur also needed to be shaved to remove all the dirty, uncomfortable mats. We quickly discovered that his bald patches and broken skin were due to a severe case of mites. Fluffy and his little family were all treated with proper medication to kill these mites. His shaved coat has finally grown back healthy and soft and the Fab Five are happily mite free!
Fluffy's latest trip to the vet was to have his teeth trimmed. During one of his appointments the vet took x-rays of Fluffy's head and realized that his molars were quite pointy making it very difficult for Fluffy to chew. He would always eat very gingerly as much hay as he could but the discomfort of those uneven teeth made him quickly give up. Now that his teeth are fixed he can finally enjoy all the fresh hay a bunny should have!
Despite the many veterinary visits and various treatments Fluffy always remained so brave and trusting. He is a wonderfully friendly boy who loves to hop over to the pen door and greet his foster mom and wait for some gentle head rubs.
Fluffy will need a caring family willing to keep a close eye on his possibly recurring respiratory infection and tooth problems. His beautiful personality and gentle soul will more than make up for the extra care he may need. He is a very special bunny who has stolen the heart of everyone he meets.
